On Thursday 8th March, Birmingham City will be welcoming Prince Harry and his fiancee Meghan Markle.
City of Birmingham Basketball club is proud to be participating in showing the Royals our home venue, Nechells Wellbeing Centre, in the afternoon.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be joining the Coach Core apprentices for a training masterclass, hosted by the apprentices that have taken part in the scheme.
The coach core apprenticeship scheme was designed by the Royal Foundation of the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry. The scheme is designed to train young people aged between 16 – 24 to become sports coaches and mentors within their communities.
This apprenticeship scheme has been running for 1 year in Birmingham since march 2017 and is part of 10 other cities in the UK that are a part of the Coach Core scheme.
This is a fantastic opportunity for our apprentices to show the skills that they have learned through their Coach Core apprenticeship. Our two apprenticeships, that have been working within City of Birmingham Basketball Club for the past year, Kieran Davis and Isa Abdou, will be talking on BBC Radio WM on the morning of the event.
