Sport England and the BBL Foundation have invested in City of Birmingham Basketball Club to continue its development of the game in Birmingham and Solihull. The aim is to form a number of community sessions, and we have already launched various Hub Clubs below:
- Friday’s – The Factory Longbridge 7-9pm (adults) – Matt Catlow
- Friday’s – Archbishop Ilsely 8-10pm (adults) – Herman Wilson
- Sunday’s – Bishop Challoner School, Kings Heath 3-5pm (adults) – Robin Watson
- Sunday’s – Handsworth Leisure Centre 11am-1pm (adults) – David Malcolm
Through Project Hub we can continue the development of a citywide community model. The project will be fundamental to the development of the sport in the city. Once established the clubs will provide growth and increased participation across the entire region.
Participation and community development are integral to the longevity of the CoB programme and sustained growth of the sport in the city and region. Our aims are to include a diverse group of people and embrace all members who have a desire to build a basketball future in the region. We will ensure the quality, commitment and aspirations of the grassroots/participation tiers provide a suitable stepping stone into our performance domain.
